2019 Mid-Session Update

 2019 Mid-Session Update

The Virginia General Assembly reached “crossover” on February 5, 2019, the midpoint of the Session, at which time each house of the General Assembly concludes work on its own bills and turns to those bills approved by the other body. Four and one-half weeks into the 2019 Session, and with only about two weeks remaining, the General Assembly has concluded a substantial portion of its work. About 1997 bills were introduced this Session (this excludes study and commending/memorial resolutions). Only about 1083 of these bills remained alive at crossover, with about 46% of the bills introduced in 2019 already defeated. This update reviews the status of the legislation of greatest importance to the commercial real estate industry that we have been following during the 2019 Session.
